FAQTool 1.0 beta 1 has been released

We are pleased to announce the first beta release of FAQTool 1.0. FAQTool allows you to generate FAQs for your web page quickly and easily from your existing AnswerTool files. Just open your files in FAQTool, select the questions you wish to include in your FAQ, and run the publishing wizard. Generate single- or multi-page FAQs by changing a single option, then preview the completed FAQ in your web browser or upload it to your web site. (The FAQs on our AnswerTool and FAQTool web sites were generated by FAQTool 1.0 beta 1.)

Tips and tricks

Our tip for this issue deals with the new QuickPaste feature in AnswerTool 2.1. We were not sure that many of our customers knew about this feature, so we thought a brief introduction would be useful.

In AnswerTool 2.1 we added two additional system-wide hot keys to activate a couple of the most useful AnswerTool functions. These hot keys are configured under Options->Preferences->General. Arguably the most useful of these is the QuickPaste hot key, which brings up the QuickPaste window over the application you are working with and allows you to paste answers directly into the application.

As a brief example of how to use QuickPaste, say you are editing your reply in Outlook, and you know that you already have the answer stored in AnswerTool. Just press the QuickPaste hot key combination, (Alt+Ctrl+Q by default) select the question and press the Enter key to have the answer inserted directly into your email. If you want to insert more than one answer press the space bar instead, which will insert the answer without closing the QuickPaste window. You can then press the Esc key to close the window.
